The Symphonic Band is the second performing concert band at Whitewater High School. Placement in this ensemble is by audition. The Symphonic Band performs several public concerts each year in addition to the annual Large Group Performance Evaluation; receiving superior ratings the past several years. The Symphonic Band is conducted by Mr. Madison Argo and Mr. Jack Jean.
Wildcat Marching Band
The Band program at Whitewater High School boasts a successful Marching Band Program. The Wildcat Marching Band consistently receives Superior Ratings, class and caption awards and has earned ten Grand Championships in the past eight years. In 2009 the Wildcat Marching Band played at the battleship Missouri in Pearl Harbor and performed for servicemen and women at the Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 2014 they were a featured Band at Disney World's Magic Kingdom in the "Electric Light Street Parade". In 2012 and 2016 the Wildcat Marching Band traveled to Dublin, Ireland to perform in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Celebration. In 2016 the Wildcat Marching Band was named Grand Champions of the at both the "Superbowl of Sound" Competition hosted by Central-Carroll High School and the "Eagle's Nest Invitational" Competition hosted by Collins Hill High School.
The Whitewater High School Concert Band the third performing concert band at Whitewater High School. Membership in Concert Band does not require an audition. The Concert Band performs several concerts each year in addition to their annual Large Group Performance Evaluation; receiving superior and excellent ratings the past several years. The Concert Band is conducted by Mr. Jack Jean and Mr. Madison Argo.
The Whitewater High School Wind Ensemble was created in 2005 to cater to the needs of the advanced music students. Since its inception, the Whitewater Wind Ensemble has earned only Superior ratings at Performance Evaluations.
Students from the Wind Ensemble regularly participate in the Georgia All-State Band, District Honor Band, Governor’s Honors Program, Metropolitan Atlanta Youth Wind Ensemble, Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony, among others in the metro Atlanta area.
In the spring of 2007, the Whitewater Wind Ensemble traveled to Gatlinburg, Tennessee to compete in the Smoky Mountain Music Festival and received the highest honors from esteemed judges such as Col. John Bourgeois, Dr. Stanley Michalski, and Dr. William Moody.
In 2009 the Wind Ensemble was invited to perform at the University of Georgia January Music Festival and The Georgia Music Educator’s Association In-Service Conference. In September 2011 they performed a joint concert with the Georgia State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble at the Rialto Center for the Arts.
In 2013 the Whitewater High School French Horn Choir performed a Lobby Concert performance at The Georgia Music Educator’s Association In-Service Conference. Also in 2013 the WInd Ensemble performed a joint concert with the Georgia State University Symphonic Winds at the Rialto Center for the Arts. In 2014 the Whitewater High School Wind Ensemble performed at the 2014 University of Georgia January Music Festival as a featured ensemble. Most recently the Whitewater High School Wind Ensemble has been selected to perform at a featured ensemble at the 2018 University of Alabama High School Honor Band
Whitewater High School opened in the fall of 2003 in Fayette County Georgia. Under the direction of Mr. Jack Jean and Mr. Madison Argo, the band program has grown to accommodate over 180 students; providing three levels of performing Concert Bands, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Winter Guard and other Chamber Ensembles.
The Whitewater High School Jazz Band is an elective class open to all students. They perform two concerts during the academic year. With a varied personnel, the class is centered around teaching essential fundamentals to those students that are beginning jazz interpretations as well as refining and sharping the skills of veteran jazz musicians. The Jazz Band is under the direction Mr. Madison Argo.
The Whitewater Winter Guard was formed in 2005. They are active members in both the local (SAPA) and national (WGI) competition circuits. They have numerous Class Championship awards and have been a WGI Regional Finalist four times. In 2015 they were named the 3rd Place Bronze Medalist in "Scholastic A" at the SAPA Championships. The Winter Guard is under the director of Corian Ellisor and Sami Hitechew.
